Our History
Willie Wilson Theatre Arts Group (TAG) was founded in 1999 by Willie Wilson as a children’s musical theatre program in the Westwood school district. What began with elementary and middle school productions quickly gained recognition and support from faculty, the Board of Education, and parents. The success of the program led to expansion into additional districts, seasonal after-school programs, and three summer theatre camps—introducing countless young performers across North Jersey to the magic of the stage..
In 2000, TAG grew into what is now known as the Willie Wilson Theatre Arts Group, launching its first full season of theatrical productions. From its earliest shows to today, the company has remained dedicated to creating high-quality performances while fostering a love of theatre in students and audiences alike.
Over the years, the Theatre Arts Group has produced a wide variety of musicals, plays, and educational programs, offering opportunities for performers of all ages to learn, grow, and shine on stage. Generations of students have discovered their voices and confidence through this program, with many going on to pursue careers in theatre, education, and the arts.
Now, with more than 25 seasons behind us, the Willie Wilson Theatre Arts Group continues to celebrate its founding mission: to inspire creativity, build community, and share the joy of live theatre with audiences of all ages
