About Willie Wilson

Willie Wilson's love for musical theater and working with children inspired him to develop a children’s musical theatre program - Theatre Arts Group/TAG program. TAG was born at the Westwood school district for the elementary and middle schools in 1990. The success of the program brought him recognition and support from the faculty, Board of Ed. and PTA. This led to an expansion of TAG to more school districts, spring and fall after-school programs, plus three summer musical theatre camps.

The Record newspaper says it most succinctly, “Wilson is beloved in North Jersey as much for his altruistic nature as for his musical talent and outsize personality.” Simply put, the heart and soul of Willie Wilson Entertainment is a 35 year journey of benevolence and pure musical joy. Launching in 1985 as The Metros - a popular 80’s punk/pop band, evolving into Willie Wilson and The Willies – an even more popular cover band, expanding into theater with Willie Wilson’s Theatre Arts Group (TAG) and entertaining cozy-to-huge events with DJ, lighting and event equipment rental services, Willie has built a large metropolitan NY/NJ following with a fiercely loyal and repeat client base.

Willie calculates he has raised over $1.3 million for kids with cancer. In 1990, when reading a story in the local newspaper about a child fighting cancer, Willie’s heart strings were tugged. Initially, the family had suspicions. Multiple solicitors had already called to “raise money” for the family, but when Willie explained that 100% of the cover charge would be kept by them, they agreed. $20,000 was collected from Willie’s fans and given to the family. That was the first of hundreds of fundraising events which Willie’s organized.
